If you want to apply effects to your sounds in FL Studio you have a number of options. I’ll now go for a more ‘user friendly’ approach. Indeed, it is, but I’ve inserted it here for reference purpose, so have a look at it but don’t stress about it. Wow, that’s a lot for such a small window. With the above illustration in mind, let’s have a look at the actual Mixer view. We will see a bit later that you can actually route the output of one insert track to another track (which is then called a send track).īut let’s not make things too complicated at first.
Also, you can insert effects in the so called master track – those effects will be aplied to all audio in FL Studio before final output (coming from insert tracks and directly from the channels, as illustrated above). How we do that I will show you later, but once you have routed a channel to the Mixer you can insert up to eight effects per track. You can route your channels to a mixer track (a so called insert track). So after reading this tutorial you should be well on your way. However, I will explain the basic (not all) Mixer features to you (using some common effects). I will leave that for some other tutorials (easy excuse I know…). Now, I won’t do an in-depth discussion of effects in this tutorial nor will I teach you the fine art of mixing. Understanding the Mixer – and more importantly understanding effects - is paramount to creating professional sounds and compositions. It is an extremely important feature of FL Studio.
Once you are happy with your slices, you can drag and drop them from Edison to the playlist window or the channel rack window.In short, the FL Studio Mixer is the place where you can apply effects to the sounds from your channels. You can also adjust the sensitivity and threshold of the slicing algorithm to get more or less slices. You can slice by beat, grid, marker, region, or manually. To use the slicing tool, you will need to click on the scissors icon on the toolbar and choose a slicing mode. One of the most important features of Edison is the slicing tool, which allows you to chop your samples into smaller pieces that you can use as loops or one-shots. You can also use the tools on the toolbar to zoom, select, cut, copy, paste, delete, and undo your edits.
In Edison, you can trim, fade, normalize, pitch, reverse, and apply effects to your samples. You can double-click on the audio clip to open it in the Edison editor, which is a powerful tool for editing audio in FL Studio. To do this, you will need to open the playlist window and locate the audio clip that you recorded. The third step to sample from vinyl records in FL Studio is to edit your samples and make them ready for use.
